The position will be based at the Texas Behavioral Health Center (TBHC), a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center.
When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As Dallas-Fort Worth’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

Plans for TBHC include a Partial Hospitalization Program with 8 adult and 6 pediatric units, a Medical Psychiatry Unit, and Interventional Psychiatry (ECT, IV ketamine, TMS). Faculty will have opportunities to innovate on models of care for patients with serious mental illness.
Profile
We are seeking an excellent psychologist to provide evidence-based psychological services at the Texas Behavioral Health Center. Expertise in forensic psychiatry is desirable but not necessary.
Faculty will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and will have opportunities to innovate on models of care for patients with serious mental illness. Experience with forensic populations is desired but not required.
This position involves direct patient care and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, in addition to teaching and supervision of clinical psychology graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in pursuing an academic career. Academic experience in a hospital environment and a strong track record of clinical teaching and research is a plus. This position will be in the Division of Psychology and will work closely with psychology leadership in developing programs and ensuring the highest quality of psychological care for patients as well as helping to integrate research and education in the new hospital. Opportunities for teaching and supervision in our well-respected and long-running doctoral and internship programs in clinical psychology bring access to psychology trainees at all levels. Current areas of emphasis in psychology include neuropsychology, pediatric psychology, health psychology, and psychopathology.
Candidates must be Board Certified or Board-Eligible for the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Candidates who are not currently Board Certified or Board Eligible will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with consideration given to relevant experience and qualifications. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position.
