JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking a large-scale Senior Project Manager to join our Capital Improvement Program team and serve as the owner’s representative for large, complex capital projects, typically ranging from $10 million to $100+ million, within an academic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Capital Improvement Project Management.
As Senior Project Manager, CIP, you will provide leadership across all phases of project delivery – from planning and design through construction and closeout – while balancing quality, budget, schedule, order changes, contractor GMP’s, and operational sensitivity in an active hospital setting. The position coordinates multidisciplinary teams, manages outside construction managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors, ensures regulatory and institutional compliance, mitigates risk, and supports long-range facilities planning in alignment with UT Southwestern Medical Center’s mission. Works under limited supervision of the Director of Capital Improvement Program.
Highly Preferred Competencies / Skills
Proven experience managing external engineers, architects, consultants, and construction teams.
Demonstrated success delivering large-scale capital projects valued at $25 million to $100+ million.
Design and construction experience in academic healthcare and/or research facilities, or comparable project/construction management experience with a healthcare, academic, or research focus.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to “read the room,” including awareness of cues, body language, and stakeholder dynamics.
Polished communication style with exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to tailor messaging, level of detail, and tone to the audience, including senior executive leadership.
Highly effective negotiator with strong conflict resolution capabilities.
Critical thinker with the ability to assess complex issues, manage risk, and make sound decisions in high-visibility environments.
Professional judgment and discretion, with an expectation of precision, clarity, and excellence in all communications and deliverables.
Work Location: 100% Onsite/Remote work not available; Dallas Campus (office out of Trinity Towers at 2777 N Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX); travel to and from work site and other UTSW locations as needed.
