JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern’s Williams P. Clements Jr. University Hospital is ranked #1 in Texas and Top 20 in the United States. To ensure UT Southwestern is a top philanthropic priority for individuals and families moving to our community and national funders throughout the U.S., UT Southwestern’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) seeks to add an experienced fundraiser to lead its development efforts supporting the O’Donnell Brain Institute (OBI). The Director of Development (DOD) will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Development and will focus on managing an active gift portfolio of major gift donors as well as growing the donor pipeline of new donors for the OBI. The DOD is primarily externally facing, will have experience securing major gifts ($50K+) and principal gifts ($1M+) from individuals and families, and will possess high emotional intelligence and the maturity to engage leading philanthropists, and faculty leaders. This fundraising professional will enjoy the challenge of discovery and building new relationships. Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, this individual should embrace collaboration, thrive in a team-first environment, and possess a deep passion for advancing the work and mission of UT Southwestern.
ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS
· Primarily tasked with building a donor pipeline and making successful solicitations with donors capable of making major gift contributions.
· Works closely with DAR Leadership, OBI Leadership, and UTSW faculty to develop and implement solicitation strategies for major gift donors.
· In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Development, and the OBI Director is responsible for advising and executing fundraising strategies for the OBI and related departments.
· Within three years, secures minimum of $10M(+) in annual philanthropic revenue from self- managed portfolio.
· Collaborates with OBI leadership, related departmental faculty, and DAR colleagues to help identify and design transformative projects worthy of significant philanthropic investment.
· Performs related duties as required and other duties as assigned.
