The Computational Psychiatry Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Instructor to join our interdisciplinary team advancing computational psychiatry research. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work predicting mood episodes in bipolar disorder using longitudinal data from wearable devices, ecological momentary assessments, and clinical records.

Our research program spans multiple methodological frontiers, from rigorous biostatistical modeling of complex time-series data to building individualized digital twins that forecast patient-specific mood trajectories and simulate treatment responses. We are looking for candidates with doctoral training in statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field who have deep expertise in one or more of these areas.

Core responsibilities include:

• Managing and harmonizing complex, high-dimensional longitudinal datasets from wearables and patient-reported outcomes
• Designing and implementing advanced statistical models for time-series and multivariate longitudinal data
• Building digital twins—patient-specific generative models trained on real-world data to forecast individual mood trajectories and simulate intervention scenarios

We seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:

• Strong data wrangling skills with fluency in R and/or Python, and expertise in Excel for data management and quality control
• Advanced statistical modeling and proficiency with longitudinal data analysis
• Experience building digital twins or patient-level predictive models in healthcare contexts
• Deep learning architectures and generative modeling frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Experience with wearable or sensor-derived physiological data
• Familiarity with digital twin methodologies such as variational autoencoders, transformer-based forecasting, or probabilistic generative models
• Ability to integrate heterogeneous data sources into unified predictive frameworks
