The UT Southwestern Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an excellent psychologist or neuropsychologist to conduct competency assessments at the Texas Behavioral Health Center (TBHC), on a part-time basis. TBHC is one of the few state psychiatric hospitals in the country operated by an academic institution. The successful candidate must be eligible to conduct court-ordered competency-to-stand-trial evaluations in accordance with Texas law. Applicants must be licensed as a psychologist in the State of Texas and possess a doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD). Candidates should have specialized expertise in forensic psychology, demonstrated through board certification in forensic psychology or through substantial forensic training and experience.
Qualified applicants will have completed specialized forensic training related to competency and/or criminal responsibility evaluations and will possess experience conducting criminal forensic evaluations for courts. Candidates must also maintain current continuing education in forensic psychology, including recent coursework in forensic evaluation practices, sufficient to meet Texas statutory requirements for appointment as a forensic expert.
This position requires strong knowledge of forensic assessment methods, criminal legal standards, report writing, expert testimony, and collaboration with courts, attorneys, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
