JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal supervision to drive product development, strategy, and program execution for DIMS (Discovery Information Management System), the Innovation Hub’s platform for managing faculty research Discovery Tracks. Manages cross-functional product and program activities that advance DIMS capabilities, platform adoption, and stakeholder engagement across the Innovation Hub. Serves as a key point of coordination across internal teams, technical partners, and institutional stakeholders to ensure DIMS development aligns with organizational priorities, early-stage innovation frameworks, and user needs. This role is well suited for an emerging but high-potential individual with product management experience who is eager to grow in a highly collaborative environment and help scale a research commercialization platform.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, health care administration, engineering, life sciences, information systems, product management, or related field.
- Experience
3 years experience in product management, product scale, program or innovation operations, or related strategic roles, including cross-functional coordination and stakeholder management with Bachelor’s degree
Preferred

Master’s Degree in business administration, health care administration, engineering, life sciences, information systems, product management, or related field.

Direct experience owning a product roadmap or scaling a platform product is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting product development, digital platforms, workflow systems, or enterprise SaaS tools in an academic medical center, healthcare, research, startup, or innovation environment, including experience with faculty-facing or clinician-facing tools.
Experience working across technical and non-technical teams to bring new systems, tools, or operational capabilities into use.
Experience with product roadmaps, implementation planning, user acceptance testing, rollout support, and change management.
Familiarity with innovation ecosystems, translational research, early-stage commercialization frameworks, venture development, technology transfer, or portfolio management in an academic or medical center context.
JOB DUTIES
- Leads day-to-day DIMS product development and execution, driving feature development, persona-based workflows, and platform adoption; partners with software developers, designers, and data and AI collaborators to define requirements, test functionality, and ensure quality delivery through productionization and scaling.
- Serves as a central point of contact for DIMS product-related requests and coordination; gathers, synthesizes, and documents user needs across stakeholder groups to inform platform design, early-stage commercialization frameworks, and continuous improvement.
- Translates early-stage innovation strategy into clear DIMS product requirements, user stories, and development priorities; develops and maintains the product roadmap, work plans, and delivery milestones while communicating progress to Innovation Hub leadership and institutional and external partners.
- Establishes DIMS product governance, business rules, and operational documentation to support scalable platform use and long-term maintainability, while ensuring alignment with applicable UTSW institutional policies, Office of Technology Development processes, and data stewardship and compliance requirements.
- Identifies DIMS process improvement opportunities and recommends solutions that improve Discovery Track pipeline visibility, stage-gate coordination, investment decision-making, and operational efficiency across innovation programs and strategic partnerships.
