JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the Endocrine Surgery team, primarily based at Clearfork in Fort Worth. The APP will partner closely with endocrine surgery faculty to support comprehensive patient care across the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative continuum. This is a developing practice that offers the opportunity to help shape workflows, build strong patient relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of endocrine surgery services in the region. 

The role includes a blend of clinic, operating room, inpatient rounding, and telehealth responsibilities. The APP must be flexible based on patient and service needs and willing to travel to other UT Southwestern locations, including the Dallas main campus, for cross-coverage, training, and clinical support. Physician Assistant candidates are preferred. Veteran’s are encouraged to apply.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, with no call or weekend coverage. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic, operating room, and limited inpatient rounding. Flexibility in daily start times is required based on patient and service needs.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience

A minimum of one (1) year of relevant clinical experience is preferred, including surgery, endocrinology, internal medicine, or family medicine.

Candidates with operating room, first-assist, endocrine surgery, or related surgical experience are strongly preferred.

Education

Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.   OR

Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

Licensure and Certification

Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. OR 

Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.

For Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) training or experience is preferred. Candidates with prior First Assist experience in the operating room, endocrine surgery experience, or a surgical background applicable to endocrine surgery are strongly preferred.

Current applicable Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers. 

JOB DUTIES

• Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
• Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
• Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training.
• Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
• Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance.
• Collaborates in research projects and protocols; and routinely applies evidence based best practices to patient care
• Performs other duties as assigned.
