POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER
Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Cancer Biology
and Multimodal Data Integration
The laboratory of Dr. Ling Cai at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in computational biology and bioinformatics. We integrate molecular profiling, tissue imaging, and clinical information to study cancer biology, metabolism, and the relevance of experimental models to human disease.
Research opportunities are available through our NCI R01 (R01CA285336) and the CPRIT DAICOR program (RP250561). The fellow will develop and apply computational approaches in collaboration with experimental and clinical investigators.
Research opportunities
• Multimodal data integration: Connect genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and imaging data to identify biological programs and clinically relevant patterns.
• Single-cell and spatial analysis: Study cellular states, tissue organization, and tumor microenvironment interactions using single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multiplexed imaging.
• Preclinical model evaluation: Compare experimental models with patient tumors to identify models that capture specific features of human disease.
• AI and computational methods: Develop statistical and machine-learning approaches, reproducible workflows, and accessible resources for molecular, imaging, and clinical data.
The fellow will lead a primary project aligned with their interests and expertise, with opportunities for related collaborations. Interdisciplinary mentorship and access to molecular and imaging datasets will support the development of an independent research portfolio.
Applicants should hold, or be nearing completion of, a Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field. Biological scientists with strong computational experience are welcome. Required skills include R and/or Python programming, analysis of complex biological datasets, and sound statistical reasoning. Experience in multi-omics, single-cell or spatial analysis, computational pathology, machine learning, or cancer biology is desirable; expertise in every area is not expected. We value curiosity, initiative, communication, and biological interpretation.
Upload a CV, a brief statement of research interests and relevant experience, and contact information for three references.
