The UT Southwestern, Department of Surgery, division of Burn, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery is seeking a Surgeon to join a vibrant group of over 20 fellow surgeons and one of the largest and most prestigious fellowships in the country. The successful applicant will enjoy a mix of trauma, burn, EGS, and surgical critical care. Additionally, the applicant should enjoy educating trainees of various levels. The division offers formal Positive Intelligence/Mental Fitness education for faculty while focusing on wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The applicant should be Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and be eligible for a Texas Medical License.
The Division of Burn, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery performs more than 4500 operations per year while evaluating roughly 3500 trauma patients annually. The division provides care at Dallas County’s Parkland Hospital which has more than 800 inpatient beds. Additionally, the division provides EGS and SICU care at William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital (US News & World Report’s #1 hospital in DFW for the past 5 years). UTSW is in the heart of the Dallas medical district and ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world. Nearly 4200 medical, graduate and allied health students, residents and postdoctoral fellows are trained at UTSW each year.
The institution is the home of a NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program and the department of surgery also has a robust research infrastructure with 24/7 clinical enrollment and regulatory, statistical and grant support. The division itself has nearly $10 million dollars in extramural funding from the NIH and DOD.
