An Assistant Instructor position is available in the Nanes Laboratory in the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics at UT Southwestern Medical Center to drive cutting-edge research advancing our understanding of the molecular circuits balancing stability and plasticity in barrier tissues. This researcher will conduct research using cell culture, organoids, animal models, and human tissue focused on wound healing, epithelial to mesenchymal transition, epithelial specialization, inherited skin diseases, and related topics. Key responsibilities of the position include:
1. Planning, organizing, directing, and personally carrying out research projects under the direction of the principal investigator and in cooperation with other members of the laboratory and collaborating groups.
2. Reviewing and analyzing resulting research data; revising techniques or approaches as indicated necessary by the research data.
3. Compiling, writing, and submitting research results to the principal investigator. Preparing and assisting with the preparation of research papers, reports, and abstracts for publication as one of co-authors.
4. Identifying potential funding opportunities including fellowships; preparing fellowship applications and assisting with other funding applications.
5. Planning and supervising training of technicians and other laboratory personnel with respect to proper laboratory techniques, use of laboratory equipment, and safety procedures; participating in mentorship of more junior members of the research team.
Requirements of this position include a PhD or equivalent degree in cell or developmental biology, biomedical engineering, cancer biology, or a related field; and at least four years research experience at the level of a postdoctoral fellow or similar, including at least two years research experience in the field of assignment.
Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
