JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying and leading initiatives to improve the financial reporting and analysis for the Medical
Group and Health System. Responsible for review, development, recommendation, implementation, and
monitoring of strategic priorities related to the Faculty Practice Plan, Health System, and all other components
comprising the total Medical Group Fund. Supports and leads the financial planning and analysis activities for UT
Southwestern Clinical Departments, Health System Clinics and Service Lines. Review and provide feedback on
financial projections for new clinical initiatives. Oversee decision support analyses and reporting provided to
service lines and various clinical departments.

Required
• Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience
10 years related financial or revenue cycle experience in complex, large organizations.

Experience in healthcare and CPA or MBA designation.
JOB DUTIES
• Direct and manage the financial reporting and analysis for the UTSW Medical Group to include financial
support for all clinical academic departments. Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements
for all supported departments, along with budget variance explanations to Medical Group and Health
System leadership. Recommend changes which could improve financial performance for the regional
centers and service lines.
• Responsible for developing and monitoring an annual operating budget for the overall Medical Group in
conjunction with departmental and Health System leadership. Lead monthly financial reporting and
analysis to identify root causes of budget variances.
• Assist Medical Group leadership in identifying initiatives that support the medical group’s ability to
achieve its strategic and financial objectives.
• Leads complex Finance projects that advance UTSW’s strategic/financial objectives and contribute to the
organization’s long-term success.
• Establishes linkages between projects/initiatives and identified business strategies using methods such
as financial analysis and stakeholder assessments.
• Review of financial performance results of projects/initiatives to ensure objectives are achieved on time
and within budget.
• Provides analysis and delivers insight which links financial reports to business strategies.
• Participates in strategic planning to ensure that goals are aligned and contribute toward revenue
enhancement, cost containment and maximizing productivity.
• Analysis of Revenue Cycle performance to include identification of areas for improvement to maximize
physician revenue.
• Responsible for the decision support monthly meetings to ensure proper business rules are utilized to
analyze financial performance. Perform analyses and make recommendations on complex financial
methodologies involving driver-based revenue and expense projections, cost allocations, workforce
planning and staffing, and related industry benchmarking data. Identify opportunities for automation and
standardization across UTSW Medical Group, Hospitals, and Health System.
• Oversees the work of financial managers and staff. Provides feedback, coaching, and opportunities for
career development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
