JOB SUMMARY
The Research Program Manager is responsible for management, coordination and promotion of clinical and basic research trials across multiple departments and possibly business units.
Job Duties
- Oversight of Trivedi Lab Research: Ensure successful maintenance and continued growth of Dr. Trivedi’s research portfolio. This will involve management of research operations, regulatory compliance, and personnel, to include managing all staff that support Dr. Trivedi’s research and education efforts.
- Clinical Trials Network Support: Together with UCLA and UTHSC, the CDRC at UTSW operates the Big South-West Node, 1 of 16 CTN Nodes across the nation. Working closely with CTN staff, the RPM will engage in activities related to study site support and oversight, regulatory management, liaising with sponsors, and more.
- Financial Management: Works directly with Dr. Trivedi, and closely with the Senior Financial Analyst and Senior Manager to develop, implement, and track operating budgets for the Trivedi Lab. The RPM helps ensure judicious utilization of Lab resources and funds.
- Human Resources: Supports all human resources processes in consultation with the Department of Psychiatry Leadership and University policy. The position will also be responsible for Lab staff engagement, employee relations, and satisfaction.
- Regulatory and Compliance Tracking: Ensure that all projects meet sponsor expectations and timelines with respect to recruitment/enrollment targets, project metrics and deliverables, regulatory and compliance monitoring, and audits.
- Proposals, Publications, and Reports: Working closely with Dr. Trivedi and the CDRC Infrastructure teams, the RPM will support development of new funding proposals, scientific manuscripts, as well as progress, year-end, and fiscal reporting for Trivedi Lab funds and projects.
- Space and Facilities Management: Oversees planning and utilization of Trivedi Lab space on- and off-campus, assuring that environmental health and safety standards are adhered to.
- Program Planning and Development: Identifies and analyzes needs and strategic priorities within the Trivedi Lab for new or revised programs. Assumes administrative responsibilities for new program implementation, including budget, staffing, space, equipment, and more.
- Communications: Maintains awareness of the production and maintenance of all communications, including social media, lab websites, and any communications for Trivedi Lab and related projects. This will require working in close partnership with the Department Marketing/Communications Manager.
- Research, Education/Training – Manages the development of methods for collecting, processing, and retrieving data to support Trivedi Lab goals. Supports the coordination and submission grants for Trivedi Lab investigators.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Center Director, Senior Manager, and/or Department of Psychiatry Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of clinical research experience at UTSW with at least 5 of those years including direct supervision of junior clinical research staff. S/he will be highly skilled in management of all implementation phases of multisite clinical trials, including protocol development, budget negotiation, site selection and activation, and monitoring.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be highly skilled in financial tracking for clinical research, and will be capable of monitoring clinical research expenditures, balances, etc.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in science, finance or related field
- Experience
8 years of related experience in research, research administration or non-profit administration and
Must be familiar with NIH research grant preparation and management and
Requires advanced PC expertise including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software
Prior experience in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program is highly desirable, and participation in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program may count as additional experience.

JOB DUTIES
- Supports research within multiple departments or business units by developing and enhancing shared facilities and programs; develops and implements procedures to optimize operations and resource utilization; tracks, evaluates, and reports progress of shared resources.
- Promotes collaboration among investigators and across disciplines, departments and institutions; organizes meetings, seminars and conferences; manages internal and external communications of the department; oversees information services group in developing web-based research collaboration tools and databases.
- Supports new research funding opportunities; works with faculty and departmental grants managers to assist with multi-investigator grant proposals including planning, budget preparation, administrative coordination and submission. Works closely with UTSW Foundation and development staff to identify opportunities for philanthropic support; assists Chair by serving as liaison to key university, community and funding partners.
- Designs and conducts surveys on research space utilization. Analyzes and compiles data on departmental productivity, space requirements and utilization by researchers.
- Assists with strategic development of new research programs and initiatives; oversees clinical trials operations, and research compliance.
- Develops processes regarding terminating research faculty.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
